About Us
Our Story
Established in the East Rand of Gauteng Province in 1990 by the founder Pierre Fouche, Bumatech started out supplying pre-portioned packs for making concrete in small batches to hardware stores. Hence the name was derived from Building Materials Technology.
From these humble beginnings, Bumatech has now transformed into the leading producer of slag conditioners and cement additives from metallurgical waste in South Africa. Currently based in Vanderbijlpark, our unique technology developed and perfected locally by our committed team, is both cost effective and environmentally friendly, providing a true “cradle to grave solution”.
Because we are dealing with hazardous waste streams, we have specific Environmental licenses for the storage and processing of this material. These licenses are rigorously managed and audited by the national and provincial department of environmental affairs. We embrace this as we have chosen the green path and conform to the standards required of us.
Unique patented technology
In line with our vision, we wish to continue reducing our carbon footprint by providing a viable alternative to natural resources for the cement and metallurgical industries. Along with this, we will increase our capacity to recycle and produce products from our process for the water treatment and agriculture markets thus further enhancing the world’s biodiversity.
We are committed to building a team of like-minded individuals who can carry this remarkable business into the future and develop all our staff to become key components of the growth and ultimate success of Bumatech.
We do this because we are inspired to make a difference to the Planet!
